RB&C carries out railway track maintenance and provides all services in accordance with the strictest quality standards. We perform preventive maintenance, periodic overhauls, repairs, and track dismantling.

‍Inspections must be conducted at least twice a year, and a report must be submitted to your railway company in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. These inspections ensure that existing rails remain safe at all times. This approach significantly reduces the risk of service interruptions, optimizes maintenance costs, and maintains high levels of safety and performance.

Preventive track maintenance

RB&C keeps your railway tracks in optimal condition through effective, safe preventive maintenance tailored to your operational needs. Our teams plan and execute targeted work to preserve infrastructure integrity, ensure track stability, and extend the service life of railway assets. We take a proactive approach to all critical track components—ballast, ties, rails, and fastening systems—to identify and correct anomalies before they escalate into failures.

Safety and qualifications

  • We have a health and safety committee in place.

  • Safety briefings are held every morning at the work sites.

  • We ensure that every worker has all the necessary safety equipment for the day.

  • When necessary, we assign a flagger to ensure the safety of our workers.

  • Our workers possess all the required qualifications for the tasks to be performed using manual, hydraulic, or gas-powered tools.

Training Courses

RB&C and Cégep du Vieux-Montréal have established a training program in railway track maintenance and repair for new employees and those wishing to upgrade their skills. This course is now offered at Cégep de Sept-Îles and is also available to industry professionals upon request.

Insurance

RB&C is a responsible family-owned company that holds active general liability insurance in the amount of $10 million (CAD).

Environment

We are deeply concerned about the environment, which is why we treat it with the utmost respect. When we dispose of old railway ties, they are always sent to government-approved facilities. The remaining materials are either reclaimed or transported to appropriate locations.
